We are hiring chefs and waiters for 2026!

Employment: Temporary / seasonal summer job
Location: Solvorn, Luster (Western Norway)
Period: Approx. mid-June to mid-August 2026 (dates by agreement)
Workload: Mainly full-time in season (rotating schedule).

About Kvitabui Matnaust & Galleri

Kvitabui is a small, personal dining experience set in a traditional rustic boathouse right by the fjord in Solvorn. Our concept is built around local ingredients from the fjord and surrounding mountains, serving simple but carefully crafted dishes—often centred around venison and seafood. Much of the produce is harvested locally by the owner, who is both a fisherman and a hunter. In the same building, we also have a small photography gallery.

Our season is short, intense, and rewarding. With limited capacity (around 30 guests per seating) and a small, unconventional kitchen, teamwork, pace, and good routines are essential.

Role 1: Chef (2 positions)

Typical tasks

  • Daytime prep

  • Lead responsibility during afternoon/evening service

  • Keeping the kitchen organised, clean, and food-safe

  • Collaborating on menu development and workflow (depending on experience and interest)

We’re looking for someone who

  • Has kitchen experience and thrives in a high-paced, small-team environment

  • Is structured, tidy, and confident with food safety and daily routines on a small kitchen.

  • Enjoys working with seasonal, local ingredients.

  • Experiance with seafood is preferred.

  • Has creative input—while adapting to our concept and the kitchen setup

Schedule
We operate 7 days a week during the season. Approximately 40 hours/week per chef, with a rotating schedule planned in close dialogue. Across June–August, the season usually totals around 60 working days.

Role 2: Waiter (1+ positions)

Typical tasks

  • Creating a warm, professional guest experience from welcome to farewell

  • Food and beverage service, clearing and resetting

  • Close coordination with the kitchen for timing and flow

  • Helping maintain tidy routines in the dining/service area

We’re looking for someone who

  • Is service-minded, calm under pressure, and present with guests

  • Works well in a team and helps wherever needed

  • Experience as a waiter in restaurant service

  • Communicates good in Scandinavian and/or English (we host both locals and international guests).
